AuthenticityWhen we think about authenticity, we often ask the question, “Who am I?” And in our society, who we are is often confused with what we do or what we own.

So let’s break authenticity down into a few nuggets of information. Take your journal and make your own lists. Here are some clues to get you started:

I am NOT:
• The car I drive
• The education I have earned
• My job title
• The dress size I wear
• The balance in my checkbook
• The house I live in
• The children I have borne
• My marital status

I AM:
• God’s daughter
• A follower of Jesus
• Creative
• Unique – one of a kind
• A survivor
• An ezer-warrior (Check out the book, “Half the Church” by Carolyn Custis James)
• Highly skilled
• A loyal friend
• Authentic, genuine and true to my real self

What about you? What would you add to the lists above?
