We met to discuss an important spiritual discipline, but I knew the busy Mom sitting across from me had little time to devote to preparation.
“I made the time,” she said, and so we began sharing what God taught each of us.
This incredibly wise mother has discovered the secret. We make time for the things that are most important to us. Whether the issue is spending time with children, writing a novel or studying God’s Word – we make time for those things that own our hearts.
Sometimes we have to learn how to set boundaries around our time, to carve out the minutes and seconds that allow us to succeed or move forward in life. Sometimes we must delete the distractions that keep us from following our passions. In the process, we learn that relationships are more important than television, hearts are of more value than social media.
Although all of us are given 24-hour days, it is up to us to make the most of each of those hours and schedule into our days what gives us joy and pleases God.
The Apostle Paul reminds us, “Make the most of your time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16 NASB).
Make the most of every minute. Make time for what counts the most. Make memories and carve out joy to share with others and cache in your heart.
During this Thanksgiving weekend, make the time for what is important to you. Then enjoy each minute and thank God you have the freedom to make that choice.
